The objective of the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation is to reach as large a public as possible with a dance program of physical and emotional integrity,
directed at making the audience aware of the potential and magic of their own lives.
Dance is a vital form of expression in our society, and the art of Margie Gillis is a brilliant, universal form of dance.
The Foundation was created to support and protect such artistic vision.
Its main focus has been a practical and quality artistic support for a Solo Dance Program, bringing that program to audiences in Quebec,
Canada and throughout the world. Margie Gillis is renowned for her personal, emotional and dramatic portrayals of human hopes, fears, joys and anguish.
No matter where she travels her humanity touches and inspires the audiences who see her.
The Margie Gillis Dance Foundation is a non-profit organisation, which is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts,
the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
"Dancing from the Inside Out"
My approach to dance and choreography is based on "listening" to the connection between thought, emotion, sprit and body.
This is the natural kinetic process whereby our inner "landscape" translates into electrical impulses that transmit to the muscles the message as to how and with what quality to move.
Margie Gillis teaches her unique approach to dance
"from the inside out" in classes of various formats.
1- Masterclasses
2- Workshops
3- Lectures
4- Lecture-demonstrations
5- Classes for non-dancers
6- Questions and Answers
Visit http://www.margiegillis.org/workshops.html for descriptions of each of the formats.Locations
